Formby Befriending Scheme

Home

Many older people become lonely when they lose a loved one or family move away from the area; sometimes their mobility declines or they develop health problems that result in them being confined to the house more often. This can make them feel very isolated and lead to increased anxiety or, in some cases, depression.

The Formby Befriending Scheme offers companionship and support to older people who have become isolated or who are no longer able to get out as much as they used to. Our main aim is to match volunteers to older people in Formby, Hightown and Ince Blundell who might benefit from the regular companionship of a ‘befriender’.

Regular Coffee Clubs are held to provide a regular meeting place for people involved in the Formby Befriending Scheme and others who perhaps live alone or simply want to make new friends.
